Jens Knappe betreibt eine Bildagentur in Berlin und hat das politische Geschehen der Hauptstadt als Fotojournalist bei der Inbesitznahme Berlins als politische Hauptstadt begleitet. Als Journalist, der vor allem im kulturellen Leben der Stadt verwurzelt ist, gewann er schnell den Eindruck, dass das mit Abstand interessanteste zeitgenössische Theater in diesem spannungsreichen Stadtraum stattfand, gespielt von einer bunten Schar von Laiendarstellern.

With the relocation of the government, the former dusty construction site at the intersection between East and West Berlin suddenly filled with the staff of the political establishment from the provincial, cozy town of Bonn. Gradually this cityscape which was charged between ambitious new architecture and defunct old buildings turned into a unique stage for the theater of politics.

Jens Knappe runs a photo agency in Berlin and accompanied the political events taking place as the city transformed itself into the political capital. As a journalist, rooted primarily in the cultural life of the city, he quickly gained the impression that by far the most interesting contemporary theater was being played in this exciting urban space by a colorful bunch of amateur actors.
